Who leads the rides?

All rides are led by Mick Flippence who has had over twenty years experience in leading rides on various different yards before setting up Cunetio Stables. Born and bred in Wiltshire he knows every inch of the multitude of bridleways which surround our stables - vital to ensure a safe ride.

Because we ride for pleasure (as opposed to being a commercial concern), the atmosphere on the yard tends to be informal and relaxed. We are happy for you to tack up your own horse. However we are just as willing to do it for you. As we like to match horse to rider, it is best to add on a little extra time for getting to know your horse and the other riders before we leave the yard.

Mick's wife, Heather Brereton, (me!) escorts 99% of all the rides. When I met Mick 11 years ago I had no riding experience at all. It was definitely a case of love me, love my horse and I now have literally hundreds of hours riding under my belt. However I still vividly recall learning -- the fear, the falls, the nagging..... and very often Mick and I play good guy/bad guy as Mick encourages someone to step outside their comfort zone and I empathise with their doubts or fears.
