How to find us..........The cottage is thirty minutes from Devizes and Swindon, one hour from Salisbury and Bath and five minutes from Marlborough, our local market town. It will take you between one and half and two hours from London.
(From M4 London)
Leave M4 at Hungerford (Junction 14)
Continue on the A4 following signs to Marlborough. Landmarks include
- The Bear Hotel;
- Left hand turn to Gt Bedwyn and Bedwyn Station;
- Indian restaurant (The Palm) on the right
Once you have passed The Palm restaurant look out for a right hand filter to Stitchcombe (small turning and easy to miss!)*
Drive through Savernake Forest, round a sharp bend, down hill and follow road to the left. This takes you down a narrow road, over a bridge to T junction. Turn left and drive a half a mile or so into Mildenhall.
Once you have passed the village sign you will see a red telephone box on the right, opposite the cricket field, turn right here and follow the road for approx one and a half miles until you get to a T-junction with a large grain drier on the left. Turn right here, past a small bungalow on the right and you will see a blue container in front of you. Turn left here keeping the container on your right and drop down the hill. Warren Farm Cottage is at the bottom of the hill.
Time from Hungerford = +- 15 minutes. NB some satnavs take you through Ramsbury. This isn't the most direct route!
Take the A346 to Marlborough. As you approach the town Marlborough Common is on your right, a housing estate on your left and the road drops down hill. Halfway down the hill is The Green. Take the first turning on the left by some pedestrian traffic lights signposted to Ramsbury, Axford and Mildenhall. *Follow the road for half a mile until you see some white railings on the left and a turn to Rabley. Turn left here, under a bridge and drive exactly two miles until you see a turquoise blue container in front of you. Turn left here and keeping the container on your right drop down the hill and the cottage is at the bottom of the hill.
* If you are driving with a trailer the Stitchcombe road is quite narrow and you may be better continuing into Marlborough. At the first roundabout go straight over to Town Centre. At second roundabout turn right towards Swindon and the M4 then take the first turning on the right by the pedestrian traffic lights and follow the instructions in italics above.
